Environment is good, clean and with gentle background music. I always go for full body oil Nice and clean spa. My Dad and I had just gotten done with a 6 hr bus ride from Siem Reap and decided to get a massage from the Amara Spa since our hotel was offering it.
It is a little pricey for Cambodia standards certainly not for US standards but we so beat and it looked nice so we went with it. Our hotel arranged a free tuk tuk ride and we arrived at one of the most beautiful salons I'd ever been to. I was absolutely stunned and the service was great.
We were given tea, cold compresses and slippers. I had the Swedish massage and my dad had a foot massage. It was the most amazing we'd ever had. My masseuse was very skilled and went above and beyond.
I really can't rave about it more. In the end, the lady at the front desk called us a tuk tuk and personally walked us out. We definitely suggest going there. Amara spa is classy, clean, and professional. Yes it is more expensive than the other store front massage and "spa" places, but this place also provides a wonderful atmosphere. I asked to see the rooms before I scheduled my appt and I had my own private room for a one hour massage. I had gone there in mid February for the great experience.
I disagree with the previous poster's assessment of this spa, but please know that I probably have a completely different perspective on my experience. I had two 1. My particular masseurs seemed very skilled, and while I have had about massages in my life, I am far from an "expert. I DID experience the loud noises from the street below, but was in a private room both times so nobody was walking through my treatment.
